Your Winter Reset

As winter inches closer, so does that urge to reset and embrace the season. It’s a time for fresh starts and building routines that can help you navigate the darker days and enter the new year feeling your absolute best. If this happens to be your first winter in a new country, the need for structure - and maybe a little support - can feel even stronger.

That’s why we are sharing some tips and tricks to help you settle in, rest, reflect and rejuvenate during this cosy time of the year.

 1. Do a Quick Closet Purge

Let’s face it, short-sleeved tees and tank tops are no longer in season (or at least not for much longer). So, instead of letting them taunt you from your closet, why not swap them out for cosy sweaters and warmer layers? And yes, this means letting go of that one sweater you’ve kept but never worn - time to make space for items you truly use and love. But make sure to still give those pieces you no longer want the chance for some love regardless. Make a quick stop at your local donation centre or sell it on Vinted.

2. Refresh Your Fridge with Seasonal Produce

Hello, hearty soups and comforting stews; goodbye, light summer salads. Get rid of any ingredients that no longer fit your winter menu, clean out the shelves and drawers and start with a clean slate. This can be the perfect inspiration for experimenting with new recipes. Browse your local market for seasonal produce; you might discover some fresh flavours that suit the season. And don’t forget, every YOSAA kitchen is ready to support your culinary adventures!

3. Make Time to Get Outside

Believe us, we know how tempting it is to curl up on that comfy couch and simply hibernate. But adding a little fresh air to your daily routine will do wonders for your mood and energy. Whether it’s a stroll around the neighbourhood or a quick stop at your local coffee shop, a dose of sunlight - even on overcast days-can be rejuvenating! Plus, that cosy couch will feel even better when you get back.

4. Take Up a New Hobby

Keep those winter blues at bay by diving into a new hobby or revisiting one you enjoy. Use your free weekends or after-work hours for something fulfilling, whether it’s a gym class, baking or any other creative pursuit to ensure you stay active and/or learn a new skill in the process. Maybe even invite friends or family to join you, and help keep each other motivated through the season.

5. Set intentions

Intentions can be powerful and don’t have to be big or complicated. Maybe you want to eat healthier, spend more time outdoors, or dedicate time to a hobby. But simple intentions - like turning in to yourself for five minutes each day, complimenting someone regularly, or treating yourself to something small once a week - can make all the difference. Make sure to keep your goals achievable to stay inspired and on track.

Winter is coming but we hope these tips will help you welcome it with open arms and plenty of enthusiasm. At YOSAA, our goal is to ensure you feel at home and comfortable - wherever home may be!
